Definition
1. The word 'model' is used in terms of 'scientific model' describing "an imperfect or idealized representation of a physical system" in order "to make a particular part or feature of the world easier to understand, define, quantify, visualize, or simulate by referencing it to existing and usually commonly accepted knowledge."
A formal model is a symbolic assertion in logical terms of an idealized relatively simple situation sharing the structural properties of the original factual system.
In the OpEnMod Initiative context, the term model generally refers to computational models.
