About me / Places I've livedCarsten Hoyer-Klick is working at the department of systems analysis of the Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics of the German Aerospace Center since 2003. He was the acting head of the department from 2009 to 2018. His work focuses to tow main fields of work. The first thematic area is the description of the variable input of renewable energy sources into the energy system and the assessment of renewable energy potentials. He was a main contributor to the development of the Global Atlas for Renewable Energies of IRENA, project coordinator of the Solar Atlas for the Mediterranean and recently the update of the renewable potentials data base of the EU-JRC times model of the JRC in Petten. The second focus is the transformation of the energy provision to the transport sector. He works in close collaboration with the institutes for transport research of DLR on the development strategies for the integration of electric mobility and synthetic fuels into the energy system.
