This is the wiki page for the upcoming 1st Workshop of the Open Energy Modelling Initiative in North America, a grass-roots organization of modellers from various research institutes, universities, and companies. The workshop will take place at NREL, Golden, Colorado, United States, 18-19 September 2019 with support form The Payne Institute for Public Policy at Colorado School of Mines

About the workshop
The Openmod Workshops provide a forum for modellers to come together and discuss how to further the use of open data and open software tools in the energy modelling community. Topics range from exchanges about specific types of data (e.g. sources for open data on building stocks or distribution networks) to advocacy and outreach.
Only a small part of the workshop will consist of prepared presentations. For the rest of the workshop, participants work together in groups on do-a-thons addressing specific topics. The topics are chosen by the participants themselves, so please get actively involved by suggesting topics! To get the most out of the workshop, it is suggested to consider in advance what you would like to discuss.
Do-a-thons should have specific aims, which can be followed up after the workshop, e.g. improving the openmod wiki pages, lobbying a data-holder to change its licensing, improving educational tools, or outreach.
Practical information
Venue: The workshop will be held in the Research Support Facility at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory at 15013 Denver West Parkway, Golden CO, 80401
Getting there: Golden is located ~10mi West of Downtown Denver, CO and ~40mi from the Denver International Airport. There are public transit options between DIA and NREL. However, traveling from the airport to NREL is usually significantly faster by car.

Registration will close on August 30, 2019. We can accommodate 70 attendees. Registration requests received after the limit has been reached will be assigned to a waitlist.
If you would like to give a short presentation about your openly accessible model, dataset, or analysis capability, please add an abstract and presentation title to your registration for consideration. Registration requests without an abstract and title will not be considered for presentation slots.
