About me / Places I've livedI began energy modeling in 1995 and maintained deeco for seven years. deeco classes as the first open energy system model and was being publicly distributed by 2004 under a GPL-2.0+ license via SSH shell account. I later wrote xeona, a hybrid agent-based high-resolution energy model with support for sector markets, supply contacts, and adaptive bidding. Both models were programmed in C++, my favorite language. I continue to work voluntarily in the field and my current interests are open energy sector data and helping the nascent open energy modeling community develop. My degrees are in mechanical engineering and energy management. Originally from New Zealand, I now live in Berlin.
